What is Grief?

The daunting anguish of grief can come to bear in many forms, but always in the context of loss: the loss of a loved one or friend, the loss of a marriage or relationship, the loss of a job or home, the loss of a pet or possession, the loss of a dream or desire, the loss of confidence or esteem, the loss of health or youth, the loss of joy or peace, the loss of hope or faith.  Grief will be expressed in tears, frustration, anger or despair; it can cause the mind to be stubborn or lead the heart to surrender.  Grief is depression and distress; it is too many bills and too little money; it is busy schedules and dwindling time; it is the struggle to succeed and the fear of failing.  Grief is a sense of loss........a loss of control in something that matters to the heart.
